lincoln-in-new-salem: Vegetable garden and split-rail fence at Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site near Petersburg, Illinois, the reconstructed village of New Salem, the small village where Abraham Lincoln lived as a young man between 1831-1837. New Salem is a historical park located on the original site of the village (though exact locations of the buildings are not known), built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Depression. New Salem is on the National Register of Historic Places.
