lincoln-in-new-salem: Split-rail fence in front of the Henry Onstot Cooper Shop(right) at Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site near Petersburg, Illinois, the reconstructed village of New Salem, the small village where Abraham Lincoln lived as a young man between 1831-1837. The Henry Onstot Cooper Shop is the only original cabin at New Salem, with the other 22 cabins being reconstructed. Lincoln likely spent time in this cabin as he was friends with Henry Onstot. New Salem is on the National Register of Historic Places.
