lincoln-landscapes: Woodland phlox bloom along the banks of the Sangamon River at Lincoln Trail Homestead State Park near Decatur, Illinois. This location along the Sangamon was the first home of Abraham Lincoln in Illinois, moving here with his family in 1830. In March of 1831 he left by canoe from this spot, leaving his parents and family to set out on his own, canoeing the Sangamon River to New Salem. This location on the river is only a couple hundred yards from the site where it is believed the Lincoln family cabin stood on the bluff.
