lincoln-landscapes: Canada geese fly west in formation as a heavy snow covers the bluff over the Sangamon River at Lincoln Trail Homestead State Park near Decatur, Illinois. This location along the Sangamon was the first home of Abraham Lincoln in Illinois, moving here with his father Thomas Lincoln and family in 1830. They lived in a log cabin two hundred feet from this bluff on the north side of the river. The winter of 1830-1831 had very heavy snows and was a difficult first winter for the Lincoln family.
